Lake Milton Raptor Education Center invites you to get up-close and personal with our majestic birds of prey.
The Raptor Center offers an education program that allows you to see live birds of prey ambassadors. You will learn new and interesting facts about how these birds live out in the wild and how they have adapted to live with humans. For example, did you know that a Red-Tailed Hawk does not have a red tail till at least 1 year of age, or that the Turkey Vulture has such a great sense of smell that at one time gas companies relied on them to locate gas leaks?
Along with hearing about these birds, you will be able to touch and look closely at their beautiful feathers, intriguing pellets, and their powerful feet. Also you will be introduced to the ways that you can help save these magnificent birds of prey from declining in numbers in your local area.
Lake Milton Raptor Education Center provides lectures and education programs for civic organizations, schools, scouts, churches, birding and conservation clubs - any group. Lake Milton Raptor Education Center provides permanent home to birds of prey that have been injured in the wild and are unable to be released back into the wild. These birds become ambassadors for their species and are used to teach the public.
Lake Milton Raptor Education Center 's sole source of funding comes from private contributions and program fees. We do not receive any government money. We have no paid administrators or staff, so funds go directly for the care of the Center 's raptors. Contributions are always needed and appreciated.
